Dining has always been more than nourishment – it is a shared experience that brings people together. The recently awarded Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest with its Two MICHELIN Keys, and its MICHELIN-Recommended restaurant, Spago Budapest, invite guests to celebrate the end of the year with heartfelt Sunday Brunches and the now-traditional authentic turkey feasts, where every bite tells a story of togetherness.
The end of the year always feels like coming home. After the rush of everyday life, people naturally long to pause, reflect, and reconnect – with themselves and with others. It’s a time when not only the calendar turns, but our attention shifts as well: from hurry to intimacy, from achievement to presence. During this season, shared meals take on a special meaning. Psychologists say that gathering around a table is one of the strongest human rituals – it connects past and present, childhood memories and current moments.
Festive dining, therefore, is far more than a culinary experience – it is one of the oldest and most heartfelt forms of human connection: slow, intimate, and genuine togetherness. This year, Spago Budapest by Wolfgang Puck, in the elegant setting of Matild Palace, helps guests embrace this slower rhythm with two exceptional experiences: an atmospheric series of festive brunches, and the takeaway-style authentic turkey feasts that have become a cherished annual tradition. Both are designed around the same philosophy – that the food should be impeccable, but the time should belong to family.
Leisurely Sunday Rituals
At Matild Palace, the Sunday Brunch has always been more than just a meal – it is a slow, multi-course ritual where guests can savor not only flavors but also moods. During Advent, this experience takes on a special sparkle: Spago Budapest introduces thematic festive brunches, held not only on Sundays but on select weekdays as well.
The festive season begins on November 30 with the Thanksgiving Brunch, featuring the classic flavors of gratitude. On December 7, the Santa Brunch brings the joy and playfulness of childhood, followed by the Advent Brunches on December 14 and 21, offering a warm lead-up to Christmas. The traditional Christmas Brunch on Thursday, December 25 invites guests to transform the magic of the holidays into a shared experience, while the Farewell Brunch on December 28 closes the year on a high note. Finally, on Thursday, January 1, the New Year’s Brunch welcomes the start of a bright and stylish new year.
With live cooking stations, seasonal ingredients, and a lavish dessert selection, every brunch is an invitation to slow down and savour the season.
The Signature Takeaway Turkey Feast
For those who wish to bring the flavours of the holidays home, Spago Budapest’s Executive Chef, István Szántó, presents a refined take on the classic American-style turkey feast. The star of the menu is once again the whole-roasted Norfolk bronze turkey, a true masterpiece crafted by the local team of world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck.
The tender turkey is accompanied by creamy Ratte potato purée, bacon-glazed vegetables, apple and mulled wine braised red cabbage, and of course, traditional spiced stuffing. To complete the symphony of flavors, tangerine cranberry sauce and roasted turkey gravy accompany the dish.
Prepared with Spago’s signature quality and carefully packaged for convenience, this dinner – serving 8–10 guests – is available for Thanksgiving (November 27–29) and Christmas (December 23–26).
The concept is simple yet meaningful: guests set the table, and Spago Budapest takes care of the rest, ensuring that the holidays are filled with laughter, conversation, and shared memories – the things that truly matter.
Together Around the Table
As the year draws to a close, the table once again becomes a place of community. The world slows down for a moment, and through flavors, we reconnect with one another. Matild Palace and Spago Budapest offer this moment again and again – the peace of the season, and a plateful of time worth sharing.
