Top Performers of Jazz and Popular Music at Müpa

Performers from the international forefront of jazz and popular music will be arriving at Budapest's Béla Bartók National Concert Hall at the Palace of Arts (Müpa).

    Jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater and her bandmate will perform on the June 30, the American band Take 6 on July 6 while Postmodern Jukebox will give a double concert on September 13 and 14.

     Legendary singer Dee Dee Bridgewater will come to Budapest at the end of June as part of her Quartet We Exist! tour, said Müpa Budapest.

    The Tony and three Grammy Award-winning singer has worked with some of the greatest jazz legends of her six-decade career, including the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Dizzy Gillespie.

    Take 6 has previously performed at Müpa Budapest. The American band has won ten Grammy Awards and the most Grammy nominations in the genre. In July, Take 6 will present their new album of early jazz music to Hungarian audiences.

    The Postmodern Jukebox, founded by pianist Scott Bradlee, will visit Budapest for their 10th anniversary tour. Their September double concert will rework contemporary and evergreen pop songs with swinging, jazzy, doo-wop, soulful, Motown-influenced instrumentation, according to the statement.
