Skytrax, the aviation rating organization, has recognized Ferenc Liszt International Airport as the best airport in Eastern Europe for the thirteenth time in a row. The award was handed over to Budapest Airport, part of the VINCI Airports network, at the World Airport Awards ceremony.

    In the World Airport Survey questionnaire-based evaluation, air passengers rate their travel experience and airport services from arrival, through check-in and security screening to boarding. The award is considered a prestigious accolade in the aviation industry, confirming not only passenger satisfaction, but also the continuous work of the airport community.

    “We are delighted to win the Skytrax award for Best Airport in Eastern Europe in 2026, for the thirteenth time,” said Francois Berisot, the CEO of Budapest Airport. He added: “The award reflects both passenger satisfaction and the success of our continuous developments. This year will see the launch of particularly significant developments in the life of the airport, the Terminal+ investment project. Our goal is to ensure that Ferenc Liszt International Airport remains competitive among international airports and provides even higher quality services to travelers.”

    The Terminal+ development program will be implemented over the next 10 years with a total investment of 1 billion EUR, making it one of the most significant airport investment projects in Central Europe in the next decade. As part of the investment, Ferenc Liszt International Airport will be expanded with a new main terminal building and passenger pier, as well as modern infrastructure. The expanded and modernized airport can strengthen its international role in the long term, ensure the competitiveness of Budapest Airport and provide a high-quality travel experience for all passengers.
