The Mexican-American extreme metal band will perform at Analog Music Hall on 17 March 2027. BRUJERIA will once again bring its distinctive musical world of cartels, drug trafficking, ritualistic murder and the darker side of Mexican folklore to Budapest.

    BRUJERIA emerged in 1989 and, from its earliest years, took the provocative, brutal and theatrical side of extreme metal to a whole new level. The band fused the relentless sound of death metal and grindcore with Mexican themes and stories of drug cartels, violence, immigration, politics and social tensions. Albums such as 1993’s Matando Güeros, 1995’s Raza Odiada and 2000’s Brujerizmo made them a cult force.

    The band holds a distinctive place in the history of extreme metal: BRUJERIA created its own brutal take on the corrido, the traditional Mexican narrative song form. Their songs blend the Mexican underworld, drug trafficking, life outside the law, politics and everyday violence with the band’s trademark dark humour.

    One of the most important chapters in their story came to an end in 2024. The band’s founder and iconic frontman, Juan Brujo, passed away in September 2024. The group continued, with El Sangrón, who had already been a member of the band, taking over lead vocals. That same year also saw the death of Pinche Peach, another iconic and defining member of BRUJERIA. Since then, the band have carried on the sound and spirit that have made them one of the world’s best-known extreme metal acts over the past three decades.

    Their latest full-length album, 2023’s Esto Es Brujeria, brings the band’s classic sound into the present day. The record recalls the deathgrind of the 1990s, the tight grooves of Brujerizmo and BRUJERIA’s trademark politically and socially conscious themes. The band have always deliberately built their own mythology: members regularly concealed their faces with bandanas, ponchos and ski masks, while speculation around the BRUJERIA line-up circulated almost constantly for decades. Musicians associated with legendary metal bands such as NAPALM DEATH, CARCASS and AT THE GATES have appeared in the group’s extended history.

    For their latest tour, BRUJERIA will be joined by Criminal, one of Chile’s leading metal bands, bringing total Latin American chaos to the stage. Drawing from a nine-album body of work packed with brutal riffs, resistance and raw power, they will bring plenty of songs to Hungarian audiences as well. BRUJERIA’s music remains a soundtrack to social chaos, the world of outlaws and the darker stories of Mexican culture full of brutal riffs and black humour.

    Together, the two bands are guaranteed to deliver a brutal show at Analog Music Hall on 17 March 2027.
