One of the most acclaimed figures in blues-rock guitar, Joe Bonamassa, will perform at Budapest Park on 20 July 2027. The multiple Grammy Award-nominated American musician has repeatedly topped the charts with his albums while paying tribute to the legends of blues and rock through his many musical projects.
Hailing from New York State, Bonamassa began his musical career at a remarkably young age: he was just 12 when he opened for blues legend B. B. King. This early encounter with one of the genre’s greatest figures proved to be a defining experience. Since then, he has shared the stage with such icons as Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Peter Frampton and Steve Winwood. Bonamassa has become synonymous with virtuoso guitar playing. With more than 50 releases to his name, he is not only an exceptional guitarist, but also an acclaimed songwriter and producer.
His 2025 studio album, Breakthrough, debuted at the top of the Billboard Blues Chart. The record is a fine example of Bonamassa’s determination to explore new musical directions and emotionally rich songs while remaining true to the traditions of the blues.
Although blues-rock runs deep through his music, Bonamassa has never confined himself to a single sound. Classic blues, harder-edged rock and sweeping, live-band arrangements all have a place in his work. His albums with singer Beth Hart, his work with the supergroup Black Country Communion and the more experimental world of Rock Candy Funk Party all demonstrate his willingness to step beyond familiar boundaries.
Released in 2026, his latest album, The Spirit Of Rory Live From Cork, became his 31st Billboard Blues Albums chart-topper. The live release pays tribute to the musical legacy of Irish guitar legend Rory Gallagher. For Bonamassa, Gallagher is not only a musical hero, but also proof that the blues can connect people across borders and generations.
Beyond the stage, Bonamassa is equally committed to ensuring that the blues is not simply the music of legends from the past. As a producer, he works with emerging and established artists alongside Josh Smith. His Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation has supported more than 800 music education projects and helped bring musical opportunities to over 130,000 students.
As if that were not enough, Bonamassa is also one of the world’s best-known guitar collectors, exploring the history, rarity and stories behind instruments with the same enthusiasm he brings to the stage.
Joe Bonamassa’s concert on 20 July promises to be an unmissable experience for everyone who loves virtuosic guitar solos, rock music and emotionally charged live performances.
