Klasszis TopDesignAward – Hotel, Guest Room and Café of the Year, 2022
The Klasszis TopDesign 2022 professional competition is unique in the Hungarian hospitality industry, targeting Hungarian hotels, small and large restaurants, interior and exterior designers and suppliers. It is the only international level competition in Hungary that takes a comprehensive approach to design, special solutions and evaluates all aspects of design within the hospitality and hotel industry. The most exceptional interior design and furnishing solutions, as well as various complementary products and design solutions relevant to the field, are judged by a jury made up not only of leading figures from the domestic interior design profession, but also internationally renowned experts.
Matild Palace won the top prize in three categories this year, as it was named the Capital's Klasszis TopDesign Hotel of the Year, the Klasszis TopDesign Guest Room of the Year and Matild Café & Cabaret, which recently burst onto the nightlife scene with its fantastic revue shows, won the Klasszis TopDesign Café of the Year. Opened in summer 2021, the iconic Matild Palace has undergone a major, detailed renovation in the 5 years leading up to its opening. The southern Klotild Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Budapest's most impressive buildings, was built 120 years ago under the patronage of Archduchess Marie Clotilde of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. The architectural designs were created by architects Péter Dajka and Antal Puhl, while the interior of the palace is the work of award-winning designer Maria Vafiadis, founder of MKV Design. The design combines modern luxury elements with original motifs, restored based on drawings and photographs of the era.
