Mac DeMarco, the ever laid-back and friendly anti-pop star, has charmed both music fans and critics alike with his self-described “jizz-jazz” style of lo-fi pop. He last performed in Hungary in 2017 at the Sziget Festival, but now he’s returning for his biggest solo concert in the country so far, bringing his newly released album to Budapest Park on June 23.
Mac DeMarco is truly a breath of fresh air in the music industry: free of pretension, relaxed, and approachable — as if the guy next door had just stepped on stage. Yet once he faces the crowd, he gives it his all, captivating audiences with his songs. This August, Mac released his sixth studio album, Guitar, which has since sold out venues across Europe and the U.S. The Guitar album was written and recorded entirely in 2024 at his home in Los Angeles. Apart from the mastering — done by David Ives — Mac created the entire record himself, from songwriting and mixing to shooting the album cover.
Speaking about the record, Mac said: “I think Guitar gives the most honest picture of where I’m at in my life right now. I’m happy to share this music, and I can’t wait to play these songs in as many places as possible.”
Next year, Budapest will join the tour stops as well, meaning that after a nine-year break, we’ll get to hear Mac and his band live again on June 23 at Budapest Park. Tickets will first be available to registered Live Nation members starting October 29 at 10 a.m., while general ticket sales will open on October 31 at 10 a.m.
