Korean pop culture will play a prominent role in the program of MVM Budapest Comic Con 2026. At the event, held on March 21–22, visitors to the Asia Flow section will be welcomed with special exhibitions and programs organized in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center, with the Dark Moon exhibition—presenting the universe of the popular series—as a central attraction. The exhibition was already a major success last year at the Korean Cultural Center in Budapest.
Digital comics—known as webtoons, a format specifically designed for smartphones and tablets and read by vertically scrolling—have gained enormous popularity worldwide. The Dark Moon stories alone have reached more than 200 million readers, demonstrating how closely connected K-pop fandom and online comic culture have become.
Vampires, K-pop and a mysterious academy- the sory of Dark Moon
The plot unfolds in an urban fantasy universe where the protagonist, Sooha, enrolls in a mysterious academy and encounters seven enigmatic boys—who are in fact vampires. As the story develops, a rival group of werewolves also appears, and an ancient conflict begins to emerge among the supernatural characters.
When the webtoon steps off the screen
Visitors to the event will encounter life-size graphics, original webtoon illustrations and detailed character designs that quite literally bring the Dark Moon universe to life. Fans will also be able to take photos with the characters—as if standing side by side with their favorite K-pop stars—while iconic music playing at the stand enhances the atmosphere that inspired the Dark Moon world.
The exhibition invites visitors on a spectacular pop-cultural journey into a unique universe where the energy of K-pop, the visual world of webtoons and fantasy storytelling meet. Walking among the installations and monumental graphics, fans may easily feel as if they have stepped directly into the story of Dark Moon.
Several guided tours of the exhibition will be held each day, and a dedicated stage presentation will introduce the universe of webtoons and explore how K-pop’s musical world connects with graphic storytelling.
Staff members of the Korean Cultural Center will also be present at the event, where visitors can learn more about Korean culture and upcoming cultural programs. The stand will offer not only information but also inspiring stories and insights into some of the most exciting fields of Korea’s creative industries.
