MY BABY have already put Budapest audiences into a trance with their unique, psychedelic, bluesy, shamanic melodies, and on 5 November they will play their upcoming album, Ecbo at Turbina.
MY BABY released the title track of their upcoming album Echo in April. The song retells the story of Echo and Narcissus from the characters' point of view. The song conveys a world of shadows and reverberations, of words lost and returned, of a love that could never be reciprocated. MY BABY’s signature groove and ‘live feel’ are showcased here all the while channeling a studio sound of seventies soul The band has now, together with producer and mixer Martijn Groeneveld, put the finishing touches to their new studio album, which will be released later this summe. So you might be familiar with the songs at the Budapest show.
MY BABY has been enchanting the world since 2010 with their intoxicating, blues-rock, tribal rhythms, with a touch of psychedelia and funk. The band draws everyone into their whirlwind world with hypnotic, captivating concerts, and their songs have been preserved on five studio albums to date. At the centre of their unique universe is Cato Van Dyck, who combines the rhythms of his brother Joost van Dyck with the expressive voice and guitar playing of Daniel "Dafreeze" Johnston. Their songs often address social and political issues. Formed on the Amsterdam/New Zealand axis, the band has made the audience dance at festivals such as Glatonbury, Lowlands, Pinkpop, Exit Festival and Sziget, but their diversity is also reflected in their ability to wow audiences at renowned jazz festivals. And now it's time for Budapest, on 5 November MY BABY will drag you into the swirling world of echoes with their upcoming new album Echo at Turbina.
