Over the course of his more than four-decade-long career, five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Christopher Cross will perform in Budapest for the very first time! Known for songs such as Sailing and Ride Like the Wind, Cross will bring his music to life on April 28 at Dürer Kert during his debut Budapest concert.
Christopher Cross burst onto the music scene in 1980 with his debut album, which earned him five Grammy Awards, including—for the first time in Grammy history—the “Big Four”: Record of the Year (Sailing), Album of the Year, Song of the Year (Sailing), and Best New Artist. Since then, only Billie Eilish has managed to sweep all four categories in a single year (2020).
Throughout his career, Cross has sold more than 10 million albums. His music has earned him five Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, an Emmy nomination, and five Top 10 singles.
Just a year after releasing his debut album, Cross collaborated with Burt Bacharach on Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do) for the film Arthur, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. His 1983 album Another Page produced two more Top 10 hits, All Right and Think of Laura, while his song Swept Away, written for the TV series Growing Pains, earned an Emmy nomination.
Cross started his own label and, since 2007, has released 8 albums of new material, including A Christopher Cross Christmas and The Café Carlyle Sessions, jazz treatments of hits and favorites born out of a residency at the famous Hotel Carlyle in New York City.
Take Me as I Am, released in 2018, features richly-crafted melodies and elegant guitar work. His most recent project, The Complete Works (2020), celebrated his 40-year career with a special collection. Although the Covid-19 pandemic delayed his 40th Anniversary Tour, Cross is finally back on the road, performing carefully crafted songs that span his decades-long career, beginning with hits from his Grammy-winning debut album such as Sailing and Ride Like the Wind.
Tickets will first be available to registered Live Nation members starting September 30 at 10 a.m., while general ticket sales starts on October 3 at 10 a.m.
