Barns Courtney is known for his gritty vocal style and dynamic yet emotional songs - most notably his biggest hit, Glitter & Gold. The young artist with a captivating stage presence is able to command the audience’s full attention even with nothing but a single guitar. He will put this to the test in Budapest on June 7 at Turbina, with a special acoustic concert.

    Although Barns Courtney is only 35, he has already experienced more industry upheavals throughout his career than most artists – disappearing A&Rs, sold-off catalogs, years of hopeless contracts – yet he is still standing strong. He received his first record deal at the age of 19, but due to label issues, his band’s debut album was ultimately never released. While sleeping on other people’s couches and making a living from odd jobs, his previously recorded song Fire was featured in Bradley Cooper’s film Burnt. Meanwhile, fortune found him in another way as well: his song Glitter & Gold – which he recorded himself in an abandoned care home, using filing cabinets as drums – slowly but surely achieved platinum certification in the United States. Since then, he has scored several Top 10 alternative radio hits and gained a reputation for his chaotic, unmissable live performances. Hungarian audiences could also witness his explosive onstage energy in 2022, when he performed as a support act for My Chemical Romance.

    Now, however, we get to discover a quieter side of him: on his acoustic tour, audiences can hear stripped-back versions of his songs, performed solo by the charismatic singer-songwriter on June 7 at Turbina.
