Alvaro Soler is one of the most successful European Latin pop artists of recent years. Rising to prominence in the mid-2010s, he quickly became a defining figure of contemporary Latin pop. In 2026, the Spanish singer-songwriter will release his sixth studio album, El Camino, and on 5 June he will bring the new record to Hungarian audiences with a concert at Barba Negra in Budapest. While reflecting on the journey that has shaped his career so far, the album also offers a glimpse into the future. „We’ve put together a completely new setlist, like a menu. For the first time, I’ll also be playing medleys because I have so many songs now. I’m incredibly excited—it’ll be more than just a concert; it’ll be a real show. I’ll also be seeking much more interaction with the audience again. After the pandemic, it felt strange for me to dive into the crowd. But since last year, I’ve been enjoying experiencing that sense of togetherness again." – said Alvaro.
Few artists achieve such remarkable success with their debut release as Alvaro Soler did. His 2016 single Sofia became a major international hit. Since then, songs such as El Mismo Sol and La Cintura have amassed hundreds of millions of streams, while his distinctive vocal style and charismatic personality have firmly established him as a defining artist of the genre. In recent years, he has collaborated with internationally acclaimed performers including Jennifer Lopez, Flo Rida, Juanes, Birdy, David Bisbal, Topic, and Nico Santos. The title of his new album carries a conscious message. While El Camino may evoke the image of a journey, for Soler it represents far more than a physical path. The album serves as a musical map of his life, taking listeners from memories and roots to self-discovery, and from the simplest moments to the deepest emotions. Entirely written and composed by Soler himself, the record explores themes of growth and love. “At sixteen, there’s a particular atmosphere around life,” Soler reflected in an interview. “El Camino is a journey to my seventeen-year-old self. It is a more mature, yet still playful and emotional world of music, in which I consciously seek a deeper connection with my listeners.” The songs range from intimate acoustic pieces to energetic Latin pop tracks. The album examines questions of identity, home, the challenges of life in a digital world, and the complexities of personal relationships. Looking beyond physical destinations, El Camino also explores inner landscapes, touching on themes of roots and family. “There are moments when you have to switch off and not experience everything through a screen. I try to step away from my phone from time to time and focus on the music and on protecting myself. It is a special feeling to tell a story through a collection of connected songs rather than through individual tracks,” he said.
