Nearly 20.000 people visited the two exhibitions and the related contests. Although the number of visitors compared with the more popular public-loved exhibitions, such as the Travel exhibition, is less, Hungexpo press agent Mihály Vécsei is still satisfied. “Let’s not forget, these are essentially exhibitions for the professionals, from the four days two days were their days and only on Sunday and Wednesday were the official public days.”
Being in an economic crisis or not, the press agent said that more than 250 exhibitors were present at the two exhibitions which means about a 10% higher ratio than two years ago. “We do not know the exact cause of this but really welcome it. The figures might show that we are heading to the end of the crisis or just the fact that firms flee to the future, grab every possibility to survive. One thing is for sure, more exhibitors mean more agreements are born and more businesses are concluded.
An Italian exhibitor, Pasquale Luna is also hopeful. On the second day of the exhibition he said “Although I have not done any business yet, I am still hopeful because many people are interested in my products” Luna Funghi is a mushroom processing and trading company which only deals with fresh and quality ingredients.
Luna Funghi owner Pasquale Luna
Pasquale Luna came from Southern Italy. His company is a family business, founded by his grandfather in 1931, who is also the face of Luna Funghi, his picture is on all the product. Metro supermarket chain trades with a few Luna Funghi products these days. Luna exhibits on the Foodapest because he wants to get Hungarian traders and buyers to get more familiar not only with his quality frozen products but his bottled mushrooms and mushroom pastes too.
“It was really a success to organize Foodapest and UKBA at the same time. Together they attracted more visitors than separately and we received more media attention too considering the two contests too.” continued Vécsei. “In two years we are going to organize Bocuse d'Or Hungary again and within a few years we are waiting for the Junior Confectioners World cup to return again. Moreover, if it can be managed, we are awaiting and welcome its big brother, the adult world cup at Hungexpo.”
