Duck-trio, literary coctails, Hadik!
Hadik’s reconstruction is almost completed with only finishing touches left to be done until its opening in September. Not only the design and the menu -including meals and beverages- are being renewed but the program selection too. The new design reflects the latest trends, while protecting the literary spirit of the place. Surely, Hadik will remain the meeting point of artists and intellectuals just like in the old days. Be careful, their literary cocktails might wake up the artist in you as well.

Scandals and arguments were more than common in Hadik at the time of our famous poets, Dezs Kosztolnyi and Frigyes Karinthy. The century’s artists came to Hadik to compose and also to chill out and have fun. It really was a bohemian meeting point, where poets could spend all their money on drinks after a well received poem. Surprising as it seems, dress up and even dress down carnivals were held in Hadik by the 20’s celebrities.
Besides its scandelous fame, Hadik has always been an inspiration for the arts and the birthplace of many of the greatest Hungarian novels. For instance Karinthy’s ’Professor, please’ and Lszl Nemes Jeles’s Academy Award winning ’Son of Saul’ script was written here. Opening again in September, Hadik’s aim is to maintain this amazing and inspirational spirit, while following the latest trends and guests’ taste.
”To bring an old cult place to a new life is always a big challange. At Hadik, we had to realise that if we would like to see this place full of life as it used to be, instead of a museum, we have to reconnect to the city. That is the main reason why reconstruction was necessary. Artists and designers have helped to develop the new concept and New Buda’s Council cooperated as a strategic partner,” said Tibor Bosznai, founder and managing director of Hadik.
Tons of programs are coming in September; guests are welcomed to enjoy Jazz concerts on Mondays and Literature Brunches on Saturdays, where popular contemporary writers are invited for a casual chat. A slam poetry competiton called Hunting season is an absolute new addition to Hadik’s programs.
Quality ingredients are used for the new, innovative dishes created by chef Blint Apor, who came straight from Gundel Restaurant to amaze us. Just to bring your appetite, Lnger (Burger in Lngos which is a Hungarian specialty) and a special Duck-trio are on the new menu, along with delicious handcrafted beers and literary coctails.
