Sziget Festival organizer Károly Gerendai, in who’s interest COSTES belongs, told after receiving the award, that they had been working on giving a high-quality restaurant to Budapest for one and a half year before the opening ceremony.
From the beginning, the kitchen of Costes was lead by Rocha Vieira, who will be changed by Nicolas Rafael Delgado from Argentina, who has already worked in many Michelin-star French restaurant before.
The restaurant guide gave surcharge for first time for the job, done for developing the Hungarian gastronomy. This surcharge was given to Alabárdos restaurant and its chef, Attila Bicsár, for raising the new generation of Hungarian gastronomy. The sponsor of the award from this year is going to be Gösser, so it will be called Gösser Bock Dining Guide Price, and the greatest beery recipes are going to be remunerated.
The ten restaurants, nominated for the price were chosen by a social jury of 35 participants according to the commendation of the inspectors of Michelin Guide. These places are tested several times. During the evaluation not only gastronomic criteria are going to be watched, but also primary preparative and consumer aspects as well. The critics did not denounce themselves and paid for all the dishes. The winner was nominated from the competitors of the second term.
In the competition, having been organized for five years, the winner was Fausto’s in 2005 and 2007, Lou Lou in 2006 and the title of Restaurant of the Year went to Bock Bistro in 2008.
The awards of the competition announced in diningguide.hu were handed in the gala as well. The Gastronomy specialists’ award is won by László Láng, the best food photography was taken by Krisztián Gulyás, and for the best home-made photo Sándor Nagy was dignified.
