The UKBA is accompanied by a prestigious world event this year for the first time in Hungary, the Confectioners Junior World Cup, on February 23-24. Gabriel Paillasson, the world famous French master confectioner, participates at the event too.
János Pataki, the President of UIPCG, the International Union of Confectioners, Pastrycooks and Ice Cream Makers and the President of the world cup organizer National Guild of Hungarian Confectioners declares that this year’s UKBA and the world cup will be a prominent milestone in the life of Hungarian confectioners.
“The atmosphere of a live competition is much more exciting then a usual presenting of pastries – analyses Pataki. – But not only of this will the Confectioners Junior World Cup be a special event. It is also important that the young people or students, who come to the live show and watch the competition, it is going to be a determinative experience for all their lives!
Two Hungarian confectioners are taking part in the world cup too, Enikő Lestár and Nikoletta Tapaszti. – The junior world cup is a possibility to start a carrier for a young person.
It is a well-sponsored competition with respective rewards and we can say it is the smaller brother of the famous
Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie-nek (World Pastry Cup) which is one of the greatest world cups of the world.
17 participants from 12 countries enter for the competition. Each of them are going to have separate boxes where they can prepare the competing pieces. – Participating at a competition like this is really stressful Last time a competitor from Taiwan fainted after 15 minutes. We hope, this year nobody gets sick and everybody will manage to prepare the pieces – says Pataki.
On the second day of the competition exhibition visitors can taste the competing pieces too, so it is really worth going to the fair this time!
