Varga Winery’s premium wine “Aranymetszés” is now available at METRO for a HUF 799 discounted price. Customers can help flood victims by purchasing a bottle of this wine, contributing to the project and its HUF 5 million total revenue to be transferred to the two municipalities. Peter Varga, owner of Varga Winery says, “Komlóska and Tolcsva, both located on a famous Hungarian wine-growing area, need instant help. We are very pleased that a supermarket chain has joined this mission and we also look forward to the support of the Hungarian customers.”
“A great number of buildings are severely damaged in the flood,” reports László Vojnár, Mayor of Tolcsva. “Rehabilitation work has already begun. We have received donations of clothing, furniture, food and up to HUF 1.5 million forints. From the donations raised by the Varga-METRO mission, we’ll be able to start renovating the damaged buildings.” László Köteles, Mayor of Komlóska adds, “Sandbags are still out on the streets, drainage systems, roads, buildings are seriously damaged. Residents of Komlóska have not received any donations from governmental and central fundraising, however, individual donations so far run into HUF 4 million. From this sum of money, raised by Varga Winery and METRO, we’ll start the restoration of the heavily damaged village church and we’ll also try to do something about our residents’ claim.
“Metro Hungary has already played a significant role in flood damage prevention and restoration in Felsőzsolca and Edelény,” Peter Schweighofer, CEO of METRO Commercial Ltd. says. “It was just natural that we want to continue our help, doing everything we could using our own recourses.” “Aranymetszés Badacsonyi Rózsakő” and “Aranymetszés Balatoni Kékfrankos” is now available to all METRO stores in Hungary for HUF 799, until Sep 2. The mayors of Komlóska and Tolcsva will receive the total amount of this fundraising mission at the upcoming International Wine Festival in Budapest.
