“BEST OF BUDAPEST” - THE MEASURE
OF QUALITY!
Since 1993, Budapest Week Publishing
has conducted an annual survey amongst its readers
regarding their favorite local restaurants, hotels and
suppliers to the hospitality industry to be considered as
the best in the trade. The votes are then
tested by the now 13-year-old strict quality standards
of the Publisher. Each year the results of
the survey are made public at a high profile Awards
Ceremony.
This year the “Best of Budapest
2005” Awards Gala was held on March 18th
at the grand ballroom
of the InterContinental Budapest hotel,
where we thanked all those who helped us this past
year. This Awards Ceremony was a memorable event,
not only for the winners, but for all our guests.
We welcomed to the event diplomats, prominent
members of the community, representatives of
high quality service industries and decision- makers from
the business sphere. Over 600 of Hungary’s
leading business people attended the
event.
Some of the best restaurants
offered a “Taste of the Town” along with
wine, beer and some of the best sweets around.
Top entertainment and live music were provided
for guests to dance to till dawn! This year
was the second occasion in which we presented
awards for “Restaurateurs of the Year” and
“Lifetime Achievement.” The Restaurateurs
of 2005 are Lajos Bíró and Zoltán Fehér,
and George Láng was recognized for his lifetime
achievement in promoting Hungarian gastronomy.
The “Taste of the Town” was
presented by the following restaurants and
